Individuals & Contractors

Do you aspire to deliver your talent, experience and skills into a role that requires a security clearance (Baseline, NV1 or NV2) but not sure how or where to start?

WorkSec conducts the mandatory eligibility and suitability checks, provides security clearance application assistance, sponsorship, security awareness training, and the requisite reporting and governance services for you to apply for, hold and maintain your security clearance. When you join our cleared talent pool you’re one step closer to your dream role.

A Security Clearance is a Career Asset

Most roles in Defence and Government supply chains require a security clearance according to the level of secret and sensitive information that you may handle or be privy to.

  • Security cleared positions generally offer higher salaries and longer contracts.
  • Demand for security cleared workers is growing across IT, engineering, construction, cyber, project management and more.
  • Once you hold a security clearance, you can apply for roles directly with multiple Defence primes, Government agencies, and through specialist recruiters.

As part of our cleared talent pool, WorkSec can connect you with our recruitment and labour hire partners through our Cleared Talent Referrals program.

Why Now?

The Defence Industry Needs Cleared Workers

Australia’s Defence Industry Development Strategy makes it clear: growing and securing the workforce is central to building a sovereign defence industrial base. For individuals and contractors, that means demand for security-cleared workers has never been higher.

  • Workforce at the centre of Defence capability – The strategy identifies workforce as “at the heart of industrial capability”, with Defence and industry partners needing more skilled Australians across IT, engineering, construction, project management and cyber.
  • Security clearances are mandatory to participate – Personnel security (including clearances) is listed as a critical enabler of Defence contracts, with each project defining clearance requirements from the start.
  • Industry-wide uplift in security posture – Defence has stated that “security cannot be considered discretionary”. Holding a clearance proves you meet this baseline requirement, giving you a competitive edge.
  • Access to Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities – Cleared personnel are urgently needed in areas identified as critical to Australia’s future, including:
    • Maritime and shipbuilding – submarines, ships, and sustainment.
    • Land and air combat systems – armoured vehicles, aircraft, and integrated platforms.
    • Cyber and information warfare – protecting Australia’s digital battlespace.
    • Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance – advanced sensors and data-driven capability.
    • Critical munitions and manufacturing – ensuring supply chain resilience.

Clearances aren’t just a formality. They are your pathway to better jobs, higher pay, and access to the biggest industrial projects in Australia’s history – from AUKUS submarines to cutting-edge cyber programs.

Our Streamlined
Application Process

We simplify the complex clearance process with clear, guided steps to ensure a smooth experience.

Sponsorship Application

Formalising your clearance pathway.

The first step is completing and signing a Sub-Contractor Agreement (SCA) and submitting a Sponsorship Application Form. This establishes the formal relationship required under DISP rules, allowing WorkSec to act as your clearance sponsor and providing us with the information needed to assess your eligibility and suitability.

Employment Suitability Check

Confirming eligibility through risk-based screening.

We conduct mandatory checks in line with PSPF 12 and AS4811:2022, ensuring you meet the requirements for AGSVA vetting. This includes:

  • Identity Verification (100-point check)
  • National Criminal Record Check
  • Curriculum Vitae and referee checks
  • Confirmation of citizenship and background history
  • Digital footprint assessment (OSINT).
  • Conflict of interest declarations

Onboarding & Security Training

Building awareness and compliance from day one.

Before your application progresses, you’ll complete key onboarding requirements including:

  • Reading and acknowledging WorkSec’s security policies and plans
  • Completing Trusted Insider Threat Awareness modules
  • Undertaking annual Security Awareness Training

This ensures you understand your responsibilities as a clearance applicant – and later, as a clearance holder.

Vetting & Assessment

Submitting your vetting pack via myClearance

Once sponsorship and ESC are complete, WorkSec initiates your application with AGSVA. You’ll receive access to the secure myClearance portal, where you have up to 20 business days to provide your vetting pack. This may include employment, residential, financial, travel, and referee details. AGSVA then conducts external checks, referee interviews, and where required, formal assessments before making a clearance decision.

Ongoing Governance & Maintenance

Through-life management of your clearance.

Clearances are not “set and forget.” WorkSec provides governance and support for the life of your clearance, including:

  • Submitting Changes in Circumstance (COC) and Notifiable Incidents (RNI)
  • Travel briefings and debriefings
  • Regular compliance reporting
  • Ongoing security awareness training

This ensures you remain eligible, suitable, and compliant – protecting both you and your organisation, and most importantly our national security.
